What is GSM and how to calculate GSM

                                        GSM

GSM is the expansion of Grams Per Square Meter.GSM is the very most important thing which decides the weight of the
fabrics in the knit garments.

garment prices and quality which is based on things like GSM, fabric quality, colors, finishing, prints, style etc.

It decides the price level between buyer and seller.GSM is the weight of 1mtr*1mtr fabrics.
100cm*100cm =10,000sq.cm.It can be found out by any one of below ways,

By the weight of 100cm*100cm fabric bit.
By the weight of 50cm*50cm fabric bit multiplied by 4.
By the weight of 25cm*25cm fabric bit multiplied by 16.
By the weight of 10cm*10cm fabric bit multiplied by 100.

If we use the smaller fabric we cannot get get the accurate GSM instead we use bigger size of fabric bit is used
to get exact or closer GSM.
If we fabric we don"t have any problem to find the exact gsm but nowadays we are all used to cut the fabric in the round manner
to find the exact GSM of the given fabrics.this system is used to followed in world wide.then the GSM of the fabric can be found out
by multiplying the weight of this round bit by 100.this round bit is to be weighted in an electronic scale with milligram accuracy.
the round bit of fabric should be sharp and perfect to get exact GSM which is to be multiplied by 100.

TYPES OF GARMENTS

                                    GARMENTS
There are two types of garments

    1.woven garments
    2.Knitted garments

woven garments
    -Shirts

    - socks etc.

                                WOVEN

Woven fabrics are made in hand looms, power looms and mill made.making of this fabrics is simple.
But yarn counts, reed & picks(wrap&weft), width should be consider more careful.
this woven method of finishing is very different from knitting.this method follows interlace method so it doesn't obtain elasticity property.

                                KNIT

knitted fabrics are made in the knitting machine, according to the structure they are called as
different name, the main fabrics used is
    -jersey
    -Pique
    -Interlock
    -Rib
    -French rib
    -Flatback rib
    -Loop knit
    -fleece

    -Jacquard.
These are basic about the garments.

GARMENTING

As Everybody knows, the textile industry is one of the best trades in the world.Especially
the business of manufacturing and exporting knitted garments is very much interesting.

The knit garments can be made in lightweight,at the same time, with more thickness fabrics for winter season.
for the summer season, they can be made in lighter weight with less thickness fabrics.the speacility of the
knits is elasticity.Because of this specialty the quantity required for the garments is huge and forever.
Hence the manufacturing and exporting the knit garments is more profitable life lng bussiness.

At the same time, there is huge competition among the world .nowadays, most of the overseas buyers and
importers prefers to do business with suppliers,

-Who are having their own manufacturing factories with huge production capacity,
    -Who are quality conscious,
-Who are able to make prompt shipment in right time with right quality,
-Who are adopting local labour laws and code of conduct,
-Who are having the thorough knowledge about the business,
    -Who are reliable,
-Who are having sound financial strength and finally
-Who are able to supply garment on normal prices?

Actually i want to share some information and knowledge about the textile industry with my younger
brother who are in same trade.

Hence i decided to write this for other and also who are interested in field of trade.Hereby i try to elaborate
all the concept which covers under the garments industry with my experience.
